Meet the East Olathe Team

Anna Shamo

 Youth Director

My name is Anna Shamo and I am going on my 8th year at Genesis, my second being Director of Mighty Camps at East Olathe. I have lived on both coasts, but Kansas holds my heart. My husband and I are raising two awesome kids that keep us busy. In my free time I love to go to the beach, hang out with my husband and work out. Mighty Camps allows me to make an impact on the children of today and the leaders of tomorrow.

Desire’ Melton

Camp Counselor

Desire’ is excited for her second year in Mighty Camps. She has worked with kids her whole life and really loves mentoring them. She has lived in the Kansas City area most of her life (GO Chiefs) and adores every part of it. Desire’ enjoys helping with her church, getting crafty and traveling whenever she gets a chance. She is a current graduate learning to be a photographer. She is so looking forward to growing and having fun with your kids, both new and alums, this summer.

Truman Gilner

Camp Counselor

Truman has lived in Olathe his whole life and has just finished his first year at the University of Nebraska Lincoln. This is Truman’s second year working camp and he is super excited to spend another summer with the campers. Truman comes from a family of nine, so he is great at working with kids. He loves playing and being active with the kids and coming with new games.

Raelin Ogorman

Camp Counselor

Raelin is currently in her 4th year of working at Genesis, and her third year working in the children department. It will be her second doing summer camp and she is super excited to learn lots from the kid, gain experience, and of course have tons of fun. Raelin is attending Kansas University to study Elementary Education and Special Education. In her free time she loves thrifting, trying new foods, taking her french bulldog, Charles, to the dog park and watching documentaries on Netflix. She’s super thrilled to be your kids camp counselor all summer and build life changing relationships with them.

Ethan Potter

My name is Ethan Potter and I will be a senior at Blue Valley Northwest High school this fall. In my free time I like to play sports and hang out with friends and family. I wanted to be a part of the camp staff because I enjoy hanging out with kids and keeping them active.

Abraham Chao

Hi! My name is Abraham and I’m a senior in high school at Blue Valley Northwest. I will be attending KU next year and I’m going into business. I love playing basketball and football and I love being outdoors. I’m excited to get to help with camp this year and can’t wait to get started!

Avery Sigg

My name is Avery Sigg, I am a sophomore in high school. I play soccer for the school and for a team outside of school. I am a designer on my school’s newspaper. I love to be outside and active!

Hi. My name is Bennett VonAhnen. Next year I will be a senior at Blue Valley Northwest high school. In my free time I like to play basketball and hang out with my friends. I wanted to work camp because I like working with and making connections with the kids.

Hello, my name is Jonas Potter. I am currently a senior at Blue Valley Northwest High School. I am going to K-State in the fall to study business. I play baseball in the summer, but I also like to play other sports with friends for fun. I would say I am helpful, social and nice.
