(WICHITA, KS) – Wichita-based Genesis Health Clubs vaulted to the top spot of fitness providers in the Midwest today, announcing the purchase of an additional nineteen clubs throughout the region for a new total of 44 clubs in operation.
Today's acquisition of 19 locations, included eight clubs from 24 Hour Fitness in the Kansas City metro area, seven clubs in the Omaha metro area, and two additional clubs each in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Lincoln, Nebraska. This is on the heels of Genesis’ acquisition of four Gold’s Gym locations in the Kansas City Metro in March. Two of the seven Omaha clubs acquired are Gold's Gym locations.
The acquisition also makes Genesis Health Clubs the largest fitness provider in the Kansas City and Omaha markets. Genesis entered the Kansas City market in March 2015 with the purchase of the Midtown Athletic Club in Overland Park and plans to make it the premier, flagship location in the Kansas City metro.
“We are proud to be Wichita-owned with Midwest values, and very excited to bring our unique fitness club to these other markets,” Rodney Steven II, Owner/President said. “We have doubled the size of our company twice in the past three years and now have a club in every city in the state of Kansas with a population of more than 30,000. My team of dedicated fitness professionals is growing rapidly and we can’t wait to serve our new members and give them the option to work out all over the region."
With a multimillion-dollar expansion, Genesis will pump up the current locations. “The 24 Hour Fitness and Gold's Gym folks built a great base in their respective cities and we're excited to bring their members along for this expansion ride with us,” Steven added. "We plan on remodeling these clubs over time to transform them into the leading facilities in the Midwest.”
Beginning today, all 24 Hour Fitness and Gold's Gym members in the acquired clubs are now officially Genesis Health Clubs members and can enjoy access to all Genesis Health Clubs. Member benefits will easily transfer and they will soon be able to utilize state of the art fitness equipment, classes, racquet facilities, climbing walls and access to top professional trainers.
Steven looks forward to the gradual process of bringing the Genesis Health Clubs brand to the new locations, and is open to further growth.
“I think we have a lot of work to do to bring our brand into these new clubs and will be heavily focusing on that. We have several exciting construction projects wrapping up this summer in other Kansas cities such as Lawrence, Topeka and in St. Joseph, Missouri. But, we are always looking for great opportunities so we’ll see what the future holds!”Previous: KANSAS CITY LETTER TO MEMBERS Next: Genesis Health Club Tennis Professionals Qualify for US Open Playoff National Championships
