Tennis Classes

Weekly Practice Opportunities

Genesis offers several opportunities to get out on the tennis court and practice on a weekly basis. If you’re ready to play, we request that you sign-up for the class of your choice a minimum of 12 hours in advance. Our team of certified tennis pros has a variety of classes to satisfy your tennis cravings, including Cardio Tennis, Grand Slam Drills, and "41". Check out the classes below, pick the class that fits your schedule this week, and we'll see you out on the court!

Cardio Tennis

  • The ultimate fun group fitness class that includes cardiovascular workout, tennis, and games!
  • It’s a party on the tennis court! Tennis on steroids! Extreme Cardio Tennis brings the “sexy” back to tennis!
  • Includes warm-up, cardio tennis games, and cool-down phase
  • Features heart rate monitors and on-court TV screen to track your performance
  • Participants consistently elevate their heart rates into their aerobic training zone
  • Players get short cycles of high-intensity workouts and periods of rest almost like interval training

Grand Slam Drills

Grand Slam Drills are identified by the NTRP level of play (i.e. 3.5 Grand Slam is the drill for 3.5 NTRP rated players)

  • Offered weekly
  • Tactical (situational drills)
  • Technical tips and footwork
  • Fun, competitive, fast pace environment

If you do not play USTA please contact Thiago Santos tsantos@genesishealthclubs.com to evaluate which drill is level appropriate.

“41”

This is a fun, doubles-based, competitive game that uses a unique scoring system. “41” has been a rave in Kansas City for the last 10 years.

We recommend players register up to a week ahead as space is limited.

 ADULT INSTRUCTIONAL PROGRAM

The Adult Instructional Program offers five skill levels. Lessons are grouped using the NTRP system. The following descriptions will help the student choose the correct class level. Each class meets once a week.

CLASSES

1. Level Booster – Stroke refinement through large volume live ball hitting. Mild technical input
2. Situational Drill: Technical/Strategy/Point Play
3. Cardio Tennis: Heart pumping/Fitness/Movement/ Faced Paced/ Music/Fun
4. 41 – Doubles game/ fast paced/ movement/ point play (requires 4 players per court)
5. Singles Drill: Learn singles strategy working on live ball and point play.
6. Grand Slam This action-packed session has a mix of situations, repetitive drills, games, tips. It's all our programs rolled into one.
7. Rapid Fire Drill – That’s right. Grand Slam Drill just got faster, quicker, condensed. We have taken the grand slam drill concept and made it into a 1-hour drill. Low on tips and talking. High on lots of hitting
