YOGA CLASSES

The Yoga/Pilates Center at the Fort Collins Club is located in the center of our facility and is the heart of our club. We offer classes led by an amazing staff of professionals.

The yoga method of body conditioning strengthens and tones muscles while simultaneously increasing flexibility and balance, giving the body a long, lean shape. We offer a variety of programs catering to the needs of our members. Come try for yourself – visit our studio and meet our friendly staff!

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

 
 
All Levels

All abilities are welcome. Attention is given to correct alignment and initiating movement with the breath. Modifications are offered for beginners, as well as more advanced yogis who care to move deeper into certain postures.

 
 
Yoga 1 – Introductory

Explore the fundamentals of yoga, breathing techniques, basic poses, and modifications. Props such as blocks, straps, and blankets are sometimes used for modified expressions of the postures. Breathing techniques are emphasized. The student is encouraged to honor his/her degree of flexibility and strength when practicing the postures.

 
 
Yoga 2 – Intermediate

This class builds on the skills learned in Yoga 1 where movements evolve. Students continue to honor their degree of flexibility as they move deeper into poses. Learn a deepened asana practice, become more aware of structural adjustments, and integrate yoga philosophy to promote development of your practice. Please attend with a basic knowledge of asana, pranayama and meditation.

 
 
Gentle Yoga

Each student is encouraged to express the postures as deeply as is relative to his/her degree of flexibility and strength. Pacing is important, and this class is ideal for first-time students, beginners, seniors and if you are returning to yoga after a break. Props such as blocks, straps, chairs and blankets are sometimes used for modified expressions of the postures. The student is encouraged to honor his/her degree of flexibility and strength when practicing the postures. Breathing techniques are emphasized.

 
 
Hatha Yoga

Hatha Yoga is the most widely practiced form of yoga in America. It is the branch that concentrates on physical health and mental well-being. Hatha yoga uses various postures, breathing techniques, and meditation, with the goal of bringing about a sound, healthy body and a clear, peaceful mind. There are nearly 200 hatha yoga postures, with hundreds of variations that work to make the spine supple and promote circulation in all the organs, glands, and tissues. Hatha yoga postures also stretch and align the body, promoting balance and flexibility.

 
 
T'ai Chi and Qigong

T’ai Chi is a slow-moving meditative exercise for relaxation, balance and overall wellness. Originally from China, T’ai Chi has gained enormous popularity for it’s health benefits. Qigong is an ancient Chinese health care system that integrates postures, breathing techniques and focused intention.

 
 
Vinyasa Flow

Vinyasa means breath-synchronized movement. The teacher will instruct you to move from one pose to the next on an inhale or an exhale. This practice is sometimes called Flow because of the smooth way that the poses run together and become like a dance. Expect movement, not just stretching.

 
 
Viniyoga

In Viniyoga, you alternate stretching and contracting your muscles through repetition before holding a posture. This approach increases circulation to the joints and muscles used. All movement is slow and initiated by lengthened breath. Viniyoga teachers create a well-conceived sequence of postures that benefits and nurtures the body by focusing on breath and spinal alignment.

 
 
Gentle Aerobics

This class is designed to increase strength, range of movement, agility, balance, and coordination; improve participant’s functional capacities, physical fitness level and sense of well being.

 
 
Deep Calm

Deep Calm will provide you with a lasting “zen” state. You will get the unique opportunity to hold certain poses longer to create space inside the body. It will provide you with a calm and restful evening. All levels welcome.

 
 
Barre Fitness

Barre Fitness is a ballet inspired exercise class.  It incorporates ballet bar, pilates, yoga strength and functional training. This class is part of your club membership.

 
 
 

PILATES MAT CLASSES

 
 

Pilates mat classes at Fort Collins Club are part of the Pilates Training Method, an integrated series of fluid movements that are beneficial for all ages and abilities. Pilates is designed to condition the entire body, using positions and movements that simulate functional activities.

Through strengthening and stretching, the body is brought into alignment while the core is activated and the spine is supported. You will strengthen what is weak and stretch what is strong. Learning how the body is designed to move will help you keep musculature and bone structure in an optimal state, promoting movement with more freedom and less stress.

Pilates mat classes are available as part of your Fort Collins Club membership. There is no additional cost.

 
 

CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

 
Pilates 1

In this introductory level class, you will explore the fundamentals of Pilates, breathing techniques, basic classical movements and modifications. Modified variations of the exercises will be used as well as props (balls, bands, foam rollers, discs, head floaters and more) to assist in refining technique. This class will assist in heightening your body awareness and teach you how to incorporate Pilates training into your lifestyle and fitness activities. Focusing on specific muscles that address core areas will enable the rest of the body to function efficiently.

 
 
Pilates 2

This beginning/intermediate level class will help you develop the principles of Pilates. Some knowledge of Pilates is preferred, though not required.

 
 
Pilates 3

This class is for those who have experience with the Pilates mat exercise sequence. It is fast paced and we will be introducing advanced exercises.

 
 
Body Alignment

Are you coming off a recent injury? Have other methods of exercise been too complicated or simply too much for you? Then Body Alignment is for you! This method is a widely acclaimed postural therapy program based on a series of stretches and gentle exercises designed to restore full natural function to muscles and joints.

In this class, you will learn balanced, integrated movements to improve overall fitness, relieve chronic pain and restore lost function. These exercises will increase your energy levels, maximize your physical and mental capabilities, and protect you from accidents and future dysfunction. Turn back the clock on your body with this powerful and effective preventative strategy.

 
 

BARRE FITNESS

Barre fitness is a ballet-inspired exercise. It essentially is a mix of Barre, Pilates, dance, yoga and functional training. All of the moves are choreographed to music! This is a must-try class and is included in your membership. Everyone of any age and athletic ability will benefit from this class!

Choose a time that works for you and plan to arrive early to ensure that you receive a spot at the barre!
