Indoor Pool Schedule for Spring 2022

Genesis South Etiquette and Saftey Rules 

  1. No Lifeguard on duty; swim at your own risk.
  2. Please refer to the pool schedule for open swim, classes, lessons, etc. No open swim during structured programs.
  3. No running on the pool deck, please walk.
  4. No diving into the shallow end of the pool.
  5. Feet first, forward-facing jumping is permitted. Flips, twists, and back jumps are not allowed.
  6. No gum, food, or drinks in the pool area. You may use the café.
  7. Do not hang on the lap lane lines.
  8. Pool equipment should be used in a safe and appropriate manner. Return to where you got it from.
  9. No pushing, roughhousing, or horseplay.
  10. Children under 2 years of age must wear a swim diaper.
  11. Persons with open cuts or sores or symptoms of illness are not allowed in the pool.
  12. Any children under the age of 12 must be supervised by an adult at all times.
  13. Children under age 5 must have an adult in the pool within arms reach.
  14. Any activity which interferes with the safety or enjoyment of others will be stopped with a warning before dismissal by any team member.

Summer Swim Lessons

Group Swim Lesson Guidelines

  • Children must be 3 years of age to take group lessons independently
  • Children under 3 years old may participate in Parent/Child classes
  • Session must be paid in full to secure a spot in a particular class. No refunds.
  • Registration begins 30 days prior to group swim lesson session dates
  • Sign ups are at the Miramont South Front Desk
  • If it is evident that a child is not ready for their level, an Aquatics staff member will contact the parent to arrange to transfer the child into another available class if applicable
  • Make up classes are not available because of child to instructor ratios
  • Each class must have a minimum enrollment of 3 students. Classes with fewer than 3 students will be canceled for the session. Enrollment will be transferred to another session.
  • Registration closes 24 hours before the start of the class unless approved by coordinator.
  • Sessions are 8 or 4 classes long unless otherwise noted.
  • Classes for members are $80 for 8 lessons or $40 for 4 lessons
  • Classes for non-members are $100 for 8 lessons or $50 for 4 lessons

Level 1 | Introduction to Water Skills | 6:1 Student - Instructor Ratio

Students will focus on being comfortable in the water, learn the importance of water safety, get introduced to front and back floats, front and back glides, and alternating arm and leg actions. Children at this level do not need any previous swimming experience.

Level 2 | Fundamental aquatic skills | 6:1 Student - Instructor Ratio

Students will focus on completely submerging, floating, and gliding without support, swimming using alternating leg and arm action for five yards, water safety rules, and how to help others. Children at this level should be comfortable trying skills on their own.

LEVEL 3 | Stroke Development | 6:1 Student - Instructor Ratio

Students will focus on deepwater entry and safety, side breathing, treading water, introduction to freestyle, backstroke, butterfly kick, and body motion. Children at this level should be able to swim five yards on their own.

LEVEL 4 | Stroke Improvement | 6:1 Student - Instructor Ratio

Students will focus on surface dives and underwater swimming, treading water using kicks, freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, and diving safety. Children at this level should be able to swim 25 yards without stopping.

Genesis Miramont South - Summer Swim Team

We are so excited to introduce our summer swim team. This is for all kids 5 and older who have passed level 4 swim lessons and are able to execute the requirements for the appropriate swim team. All practices will be held at Genesis South.

Parent Meeting May 23rd 6pm (Café or Pool Deck)

First Day of Practice May 31st

Regular Season Runs from May 31-July 24

Qualified athletes will practice the week of July 25th

Practice schedule: 

Black Team (13 & over/advanced kids) M-F, Swim 7-8:15 a.m. Dryland 8:20-8:40 a.m.

Red Team (12 & under) M-F.  Dryland 8-8:15 a.m.  Swim 8:15-9 a.m.

Requirements for RED team:

Must be able to swim 25 yards of freestyle in under 55 seconds

Recommended that swimmers be able to do 25 yards of one additional stroke (backstroke, breaststroke, or butterfly).

Coach reserves the right to make modifications for individual swimmers.

Requirements for BLACK team:

Must be able to swim 50 yards of freestyle in under 50 seconds

Must be able to swim 50 yards of backstroke

Recommended that swimmers be able to do 25 yards of either breaststroke or butterfly.

Recommended that swimmers are able to execute flip turns.

Coach reserves the right to make modifications for individual swimmers.

Cost:

$200 for the season (does not include the required swimsuit purchased through MI Sports) payment taken at front desk at Genesis South

Other equipment purchases and the meet schedule will be discussed at the parent meeting.

Masters Swim Team

Our Masters Swim Team is our adult swim team. They get together at various times during the week to complete a workout with a coach which may include cross-training depending on the class. See descriptions and schedule below. We have two levels and one mixed class.

  • Masters Swim (3,000-yard workout posted) for experienced adult swimmers who want to improve their strength and endurance or who are training for an event/triathlon. We recommend that swimmers can swim at least 10 laps/20 lengths (500 yards) of the pool without stopping.

6-7 am M/W/F  

12-1 pm M/W/F (Wednesday has added dryland exercises)    

  • Masters Lite (2,000-2,500 yards workout posted)  great starting point for interested swimmers or for those who want to cross-train from other disciplines. We recommend that swimmers can swim at least 4 laps/8 lengths (200 yards) of the pool without stopping.

6:15-7:15 pm Tu/Th  

Water Aerobics

Classes are offered 6 days a week. See the Pool schedule for times.

Classes offered are:

  • Silver Splash
  • Aqua Intervals
  • Deep H2O

Pool Rentals and Special Events are available on the weekends per special request. Contact the Aquatics office for details and scheduling.

 

Safety Classes: See our current schedule for Lifeguarding, Lifeguarding Review, Lifeguarding Instructor and Lifeguarding Instructor review classes. Basic Blended Learning (online and in-person class)  CPR classes are also available if space allows.

Lap Swimming Information

  • If all lanes are occupied, we encourage you to circle swim or split the lane.
  • Circle swimming is when you always swim on the right side of the lane and follow others in the lane. Splitting a lane is when there are two people in the lane and each swim on one side.
  • Feel free to note on the whiteboard when you will be done.
  • If all lanes are occupied, (two swimmers per lane), limit your swim time to 30 minutes if people are waiting.
  • If sharing the lane is necessary, please notify the other swimmers before entering the lane.

Swim Lessons

Currently Genesis South is setting up private, semi-private, and small group classes with experienced instructors. These classes are 30 minutes long and serve members and non-members. Call the Aquatics office for pricing and availability. 970-672-4255

We are also gauging interest in an adult learn to swim class, a parent-tot swim class, and a pre-swim team class for youth. If interested, please contact the Aquatics office with your preferred availability.
