FALL/WINTER AQUATICS PROGRAM

Swimming Lesson Guidelines

• Children must be 3 years of age to take lessons independently.
• Children under 3 years may participate in Parent/Child classes.
• Pay for sessions in full to secure registration in that particular class.
• Sign-ups are at the Miramont South Front Desk and the Fort Collins Club Front Desk.
• If it is evident that a child is not ready for lessons, and Aquatics staff member will contact the parent to arrange a full refund or attempt to transfer the student to an available class.
• Each class must have a minimum enrollment of two students. Classes with one student or less will be canceled for the session.
• Prorating will only be done if Aquatics cancels a class during a session.
• Registration closes 24 hours before the start of the class.
• Cancellations must be made an hour before the start of class to be eligible for make-up. Failure to contact the facility at (970) 282-1000 an hour before class will result in forfeiting all fees.

Learn to Swim Program

Genesis’ year-round Learn to Swim program is designed for children from beginner to advanced levels. Students progress through the levels at their own pace. Our swim lesson program will help set the stage for a lifetime of water safety by equipping students with the knowledge and skills needed to help them swim safely with confidence. Please refer to individual descriptions to see the skill levels that will be taught in each class.

LEVELS 1 - PRE-SWIM TEAM | AGES 3 AND UP
Level 1 | Introduction to Water Skills | 6:1 Student Instructor Ratio

Students will focus on being comfortable in the water, learn the importance of water safety, get introduced to front and back floats, front and back glides, and alternating arm and leg actions. Children at this level do not need any previous swimming experience.

Monday-Thursday 10:30-11 am $80 members/$100 non-members

Tuesday/Thursday 4:30-5:00 pm $40 members/$50 non-members

Level 2 | Fundamental aquatic skills | 6:1 Student instructor ratio

Students will focus on completely submerging, floating, and gliding without support, swim using alternating leg and arm action for five yards, water safety rules, and how to help others. Children at this level should be comfortable trying skills on their own.

Monday-Thursday 11:00-11:30 am $80 members/$100 non-members

Tuesday/Thursday 4:00-4:30 pm $40 members/$50 non-members

LEVEL 3 | STROKE DEVELOPMENT | 6:1 STUDENT - INSTRUCTOR RATIO

Students will focus on deepwater entry and safety, side breathing, treading water, introduction to freestyle, backstroke, butterfly kick, and body motion. Children at this level should be able to swim five yards on their own.

Monday-Thursday 10:30-11 am $80 members/$100 non-members

Tuesday/Thursday 4:30-5:00 pm $40 members/$50 non-members

LEVEL 4 | STROKE IMPROVEMENT | 6:1 STUDENT - INSTRUCTOR RATIO

Students will focus on surface dives and underwater swimming, treading water using kicks, freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, breaststroke, and diving safety. Children at this level should be able to swim 25 yards without stopping.

Monday-Thursday 11-11:30 am $80 members/$100 non-members

Tuesday/Thursday 4:00-4:30 pm $40 members/$50 non-members

PRE-SWIM TEAM | 6:1 STUDENT - INSTRUCTOR RATIO

In this class, students will work on becoming ready to join the swim team! They will focus on technique for all strokes, building endurance, race starts, flip turns, and competition rules. Children at this level must be able to swim 50 yards without stopping.

Monday-Thursday 10:30-11:15 am $80 members/$100 non-members

Tuesday/Thursday 4:00-4:45 pm $40 members/$50 non-members

Youth Swim Team - Miramont South 

Red Team

Swimmers must have passed Level 4 swim lessons and swim 25 yards of freestyle, backstroke, butterfly, and breaststroke.

Monday-Thursday 7:45-9 am $180 members/$200 non-members

Black Team

Swimmers must consecutively swim 50 yards of each of the four strokes (200 IM) and perform flip turns.

Monday-Thursday 7:00-8:30 am $180 members/$200 non-members.

 

Youth Private Lessons

Are you looking to improve stroke technique or learn how to be safe in the water? Lessons from our trained, experienced, and certified instructors are available for children and adults.

Each family member or friend must pay the individual per participant for the number of sessions listed above. A small group consists of two to four participants that coordinate their lesson with one instructor.

Do you want to improve your stroke technique, start training for an event, or do you want to make sure you are safe in the water? Let our trained, experienced, and certified instructors support and motivate you in the pool. One-on-one instruction is available for all ages.

Masters Swim Classes

Masters

The Masters Swim program is for experienced adult swimmers. The class is for those who desire to improve their fitness level, train for a special event, or have the support and motivation provided by exercising with a group. We swim around 3,000 yards during the hour. Having basic swimming skills is a prerequisite, and we recommend that newcomers to the class be able to swim at least 500 yards (10 laps / 20 lengths) without stopping and repeating 100’s on a 2:00 minute interval.

ONE HOUR SESSIONS

Masters Lite 

Masters Lite is a more accessible version of Masters. We focus on technique with a balance of speed and endurance. We swim between 2,000 – 2,500 yards during the hour. This is a goal – not everyone will complete the entire workout. Having basic swimming skills is a prerequisite, and we recommend that newcomers be able to swim at least 200 yards (four laps / eight lengths) without stopping.

Water Fitness Classes

Water fitness is for everyone. Experience a low to no-impact workout in the pool that focuses on strength, cardio, endurance, and range of motion. Let our certified instructors motivate, support, and inspire you with a variety of less joint-jarring workouts.

Silver Splash 

Activate your aqua exercise urge for variety! Silver Splash offers lots of fun and shallow water moves to improve agility, flexibility, and cardiovascular endurance. No swimming ability is required, and various equipment develops low-intensity strength, balance, and coordination.

Aqua Intervals 

Alternating cardio and strength training for a full-body workout. Class is taught at medium to high intensity, with modifications offered for lower intensity. Equipment is used for strength training with a focus on the core and major muscle groups. Exercises are adapted for those who want to stay in deep water.

Deep H20 Power 

A low-impact, high-intensity workout! This is for those looking for a more aggressive cardio workout combined with periods of toning in deep water. A buoyancy belt is provided.
