Stop wishing!

If you long for the day where you wake up to chirping birds and actually enjoy it, it’s time to make some changes so that waking up becomes easy.

Here are some tips to help you become the morning person you’ve always wanted to be.

How to Become a Morning Person

Prep Breakfast

This is a bit of added work the day before, but it will free up your time in the morning. A great day starts with a healthy breakfast. Food gives us the energy to help us perform at our best. What you choose to fuel your body with helps your stamina and keeps you goin’, rockin’ and rollin’. Before going to bed, prep some overnight oats, or put together some smoothie fixings. In the morning you’ll have breakfast ready or almost there so that you can go about your day and not worry about having enough time to make and eat breakfast.fruit

Clean Up the Night Before

Have you ever woken up to a mess in the kitchen? Immediately you’re annoyed that you have to clean, or anxious that you can't clean it up that minute because you have to go. Skip all the worry and leave the house tidy before bed. You’ll wake up in a better mood, having more time for what really matters – family time, meditation, food, you name it!

Plan Your Outfit

This one may seem unnecessary to some, but having your clothes prepared the night before gives you extra time in the morning to really wake up and feel good about what you've put on. Studies show that dressing up can help improve self-esteem. A cute gym outfit, professional work attire, the perfect date-night dress, or some cool new kicks - whatever makes you feel good and ready to start the day, prepare it before bed so that you wake up without the rush of having to decide what “works” with what.

Get a good night's sleep

To wake up happy, you need to get a full night of sleep. A full eight hours gives you the energy you need to take on the day. Good rest helps you think more clearly, keeps your body healthy, helps you wake up early in a great mood. There are many ways to get better sleep. Here are some tips on how to do just that!

To get better sleep, we suggest you make a routine before bed. Shut the phone off early, make the bed comfy, go to bed at the same time every night, read a book before hitting the pillow, wear a facemask – whatever you need to do to get a full eight hours? Do it!

Create a routine & something to look forward to

Practice makes perfect, am I right? Just as important as creating a routine before bed, creating a morning ritual that you can look forward to will help motivate you to wake up early and start the day off right. If you want to become a morning person, remember your reasons "why." Make your “why” an important priority and be sure to follow through. Whether it’s a morning walk with a favorite friend or fur baby, a nice hot shower, a morning sweat session at Genesis Health Clubs, some eggs served sunny-side-up for the kids – create a routine that's both enjoyable and easy to accomplish. If you have something to look forward to in the morning, you're more likely to wake up for it.
